Red Blossom on Gold

Acrylic, oil, birchwood and 23.5ct Superior Manetti gold leaf.

One of my latest artworks features red Brazilian blossoms painted in oil, on gold-leafed birchwood.

Birchwood is one of my favorite mediums to work with as it showcases the delicate grains in the wood. The soft Superior Manetti gold serves as a perfect backdrop for the oil-painted blossoms.

To add a contemporary touch, I mounted the birchwood on a vibrant acrylic-painted wood board, with the botanical artwork spilling over as if it were living and growing. Capturing the beauty of butterflies flitting from blossom to blossom in my artwork.

The artwork is inspired by my time spent in Brazil and was exhibited at The Other Art Fair, London on 7-10th March 2024.
