This piece was created in the setting of Roy's Motel, a remote iconic landmark in a town called Amboy in Southern California, on Route 66. The starkness of the piece reflects the town's isolation. 
 
The waiting girl was added to create a story... why she is waiting & who will arrive, is left to the imagination. 
 
I used acrylics for this piece, as I like the way they lay flat & the blue sky & desert sand give subtle tones to the painting.
 
WAITING is my third painting in my California series that I am currently working on.
